Community Garden Startup
Community Garden - Are you looking to find or start a community garden? Would you be interested in helping grow vegetables with our Healthy Chesapeake initiative to help get vegetables to people in areas with limited access to fresh produce? We can help with providing soil test kits, answering questions on when and what to plant, provide talks on composting, growing different vegetables, crop rotation plans, insect identification, etc. for your group.
Browse through this publication from California to get a better idea of how to create a community garden. If you would like to be informed on any new community garden locations and/or initiatives please send an email to Mikeand@vt.edu with your name, address and phone number and I will add you to the email list. You can also ask more specific questions at the same email address.
