Through educational programs based on research and developed with input from local stakeholders, we help the people of Hampton improve their lives.

We provide education through programs in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H Youth Development, and Community Viability.

Hampton Master Gardeners are available on the following days & times to answer any type of lawn, garden, or plant questions you may have.

Monday's - 8:30am - 10:30am

Become A Master Gardener

    ♦    Master Gardeners are volunteers who assist their local Cooperative Extension Office in educating the public in general gardening practices as well as the proper use of pesticides and fertilizers.   To become a Master Gardener, an individual must complete 50 hours of horticulture instruction and return an equal number of hours (50) as a Master Gardener volunteer.

Classes begin:                  September 4 - November 15, 2012

                            Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

                                     Location:  Northside Christian Church

                                1213 George Washington Memorial Highway, 

                                                          York County

Course Fee: $110.00 (Fees associated with this course will cover handbook and other materials.)

2012 Hampton & Newport News 4-H Junior Camp

 

June 18-22, 2012

 

Jamestown 4-H Educational Center

 

Youth ages: 9 - 13 years old (must be 9 years old by September 30,2012)

 

Cost: Early-bird rate-$200.00; balance due in full by May 11 & regular rate - $225.00; balance due in full by June 1.

         Space is Limited!! A un-refundable $50.00 deposit is required to reserve your space.  Cost includes lodging, meals, t-shirt, transportation, and evening programs.

 

This opportunity gives kids a chance to experience camping first-hand.  Some of the activities they will participate in are kayaking, canoeing, swimming, arts & crafts, and much more.
