Get Involved
Virginia Cooperative Extension relies on volunteers to accomplish its mission. We believe that active citizen involvement in our programs makes a difference in our success. The work of volunteers at the local level helps us leverage our paid faculty and staff resources into a much greater impact for the people of Virginia.
There are many ways you can get involved with us. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss available opportunities.
Virginia Cooperative Extension is interested in listening to your ideas of local issues and needs that VCE could address. Your input is valuable to us, as it helps us stay in touch with community concerns. We can be contacted at (276) 988-0405.
Tazewell County Extension Leadership Council (ELC)
Tazewell ELC does not determine in isolation the needs of communities, nor does it implement solutions to those needs on its own. Instead, Extension facilitates an approach to education that involves the community in the identification of their own needs and the implementation of solutions. The primary means for Extension to facilitate community involvement in Extension education is through a representative group known as the Tazewell County Extension Leadership Council (ELC). The ELC serves as an advocate for Extension and its programs. The ELC Meets on a quarterly basis at the Tazewell County Extension Office.
Tazewell County Master Gardener’s
Sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, Master Gardener’s are volunteer educators within our community who serve the public by assisting local Extension Agents to provide sound and practical gardening information to area property and homeowners.
4-H
4-H is the comprehensive youth development program of Virginia Cooperative Extension. Youth between the ages of 5 and 18 engage in hands-on learning experiences under the guidance of adult or teen 4-H volunteers trained by 4-H agents. Through hands-on learning activities and programs, 4-H provides youth with opportunities to "learn by doing." 4-H programs foster skill development in effective citizenship, leadership, and other life skills. Listed are some programs in which your child could get involved.
If interested in any of these clubs please contact (276) 988-0405.
