Tour de Parc
The Tazewell Extension office participated in the 2009, Tour du Parc Outdoor Education Program on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Graham Recreational Park. 120 Graham Middle School Students participated in 10 educational stations presented by local organization and Agencies.
Farewell Cissy Killen
Cissy has been the 4-H Technician since the 70's!!! She has touched so many of our children's lives as the "4-H Lady". She retired on September 30, 2009.

Volunteer Appreciation
Tazewell County 4-H held its volunteer Appreciation and recognition reception in the Fuller Peery Building at the Tazewell County Fairgrounds on May 19, 2009. The guest speaker was Associate Director 4-H, Dr. Cathy Sutphin. Volunteer’s were presented with 5, 10, 15, and 20 year recognition certificates and pins.
Farm Safety Day
Virginia Cooperative Extension, Farm Bureau Federation, Wal-Mart, Soil & Water Conservation District and Thompson Valley Fire and Rescue hosted a farm safety day where area farmers brought their tractors to have a fire extinguisher installed. On May 9, 2009, 34 tractors participated in this program.

Kids Fish Day
Over 1,200 citizens of Tazewell County turned out with their families to enjoy the annual Kids in the Outdoors event held at Lake Witten on May 2, 2009. Many agencies partnered to provide a fun and outdoor educational experience for everyone.
4-H Youth-In-Government Day
The 35th Annual 4-H Youth-In-Government Day wash held on Thursday, May 7, 2009. This year's program involved 58 students from Graham, Richlands and Tazewell High Schools. A special “thank you” to the 19 Agency/organization for participating on May 7th event. Your willingness to participate makes 4-H Youth-In-Government a success.
4-H Area II Contest
The 4-H Area II Contest was held on April 25, 2009 at Tazewell Middle School. Students from Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell and Tazewell counties participated. This program consists of presentation/ demonstration, share-the-fun and public speaking.

Tazewell County 4-H guided 14 different school groups to Virginia Tech Campus fulfilling the 4th grade Standard of Learning to explore different career possibilities.
